Riveted Left Tank Ribs

So today was a big day. Eric came over today to help me with the riveting. It sure made things go a lot faster having someone help you. We were able to rivet all the ribs in place in about 3 hours. We would mix up a batch of proseal, apply it to the ribs and slide them in place. Then we would cleco every hole in each rib. This helps pull the skin/rib together and squeeze out the excess proseal. Then Eric would go on rivet duty and dip the rivet in proseal and load the rivet in the hole. I would then set it. Repeat. We used a large syringe to squeez the proseal onto the ribs and make the filets. The proseal is mixed by weight 10:1.

Here's a shot of one of the interior ribs after we riveted it in place. It is messy but the proseal is fairly easy to clean up afterwards with MEK. I still have to apply a drop of proseal to each shop head and make the filets in this shot.

A little bit of tape on the end rib keeps the skins clean.

It took about 30-45 minutes to clean all the clecos. I soaked them in a bowl of MEK for a while and wiped them down.

The T-405 was riveted in place after the rib was riveted in place. The AN fuel pickup will go in the large hole.
