Begin Attach Bracket Installation
I began by marking the centerlines on all of the attach brackets. i did this per the Vans instructions. I have seen where several people use different methods of back drilling the tank flange to the brackets. The method that Dan Checkoway used is supposed to save you some time by not having to cleo the tanks together and tear them apart so many times. I am not sure yet what method I am going to use. Probably a blend of the two. I got some notes from another builder I know on how he did his tanks so i am researching that as well.
I drilled the center hole on the top and bottom of all the flanges except for the upper hole on the inboard most flange. Then I just clecoed them in place and squared them up with a square. From here I just back drilled from the bottom of the spar with a #11 bit. I then put another cleco in the second hole and drilled the third hole. They came out perfect.
