Tapped Tie Downs
I picked up where I left off a couple days ago and worked on the tie downs. I had to tap the tie down brackets with a 3/8-16 tap. This all went pretty easy. I ordered the cast tie down rings from Avery so I am waiting on them to show up.

The tie down spacers are cut from the AB4-187x1 1/4x12 bar. They are 2 inches long.

I labeled each spacer and lined them up on the spar with a framing angle.

Next, the tie down bracket gets laid on top and a AN3 bolt in the bottom hole to line everything up. I used some masking tap underneath to hold the spacers in place. Then I clamped everything in place. Turned the spar over and back drilled the holes with a #11 drill.

Here I have the spacers clecoed in place and the nut plates are held with a clamp. I also have an AN3 bolt screwed halfway into the nut plate to center it.

Drill one side of the nut plate, cleco, drill the other. Pretty easy stuff.

I busted the pilot off my my #40 countersink. I had to order another one along with some other goodies. :)

I had to put this on hold until I get my new countersink. Enough for tonight.
